LHT DMS was not designed in a product meeting. It was built over more than a decade, out of daily frustration — by a practising barrister who needed it, could not find it, and had no intention of selling it at that time.
Every litigator knows the drill. A hearing is tomorrow. You have twenty documents from six different sources — some scanned, some Word, some image files, some already PDF. Half are locked. Some are landscape. The court filing portal caps uploads at 50 MB. Your court requires A4, portrait, no hyperlinks, no annotations, bookmarked and paginated.
The tools available were either server-dependent web tools that sent your client's confidential documents to third-party servers, bloated desktop suites built for graphic designers, or single-purpose utilities that required you to open five applications and save five intermediate files before reaching a court-ready output.

LHT DMS did not begin as a product. It began more than a decade ago as a handful of small tools, written one at a time by a practising barrister to solve problems in his own document processing — an index that would renumber itself when the bundle changed, a bundle that could be rebuilt without starting again because one affidavit or witness statement came back signed, a scanned exhibit that no readily available OCR tool might handle efficiently.
Each piece was written because the tool that should have existed did not. There was no plan to sell any of it. For years it simply ran, quietly, on real matters against real deadlines — corrected every time a court's requirements shifted.
The decision to build it into a product came much later. What had been a collection of separate utilities was rebuilt as one suite, and a great deal was added that a personal toolkit had never needed: jurisdiction handling, e-Filing portal automation, multi-language OCR, licensing, a Mac build. But the core of it is what it always was — the tools a litigator wrote because he needed them.
This is version 1.0.0 as a product. It is not version 1.0.0 as software. The core part of it has already been used, for years, on live litigation.
LHT DMS — Legal Hi Tech Document Management Suite — is a desktop application built specifically for litigation lawyers practising in common law jurisdictions. It handles the full document preparation pipeline: unlocking, OCR, rotation, A4 normalisation, annotation flattening, link creating, link clearing, compression, Word and image conversion, compilation into a bookmarked, paginated court bundle, and Malaysian and England & Walese-Filing portal automation, with e-filing automation for other jurisdictions in the pipeline.
Everything runs locally on your computer. No documents leave your machine. No subscription account. No cloud dependency for core features. No technical knowledge required — it installs and runs like any other desktop application.
LHT DMS is in its first public release year. Making it free for 2026 is a deliberate choice — we want lawyers across Malaysia, Singapore, the UK and other common law jurisdictions to use it, find its limits, tell us what they need, and help us continue building the right product. Charging for version 1.0 before we have earned that trust would be the wrong order of things.
Legal Hi Tech Limited is a UK-registered company established to develop and distribute LHT DMS globally. The Malaysian operations serve as the principal user base and testing ground given the founder's active litigation practice in both Malaysia and England & Wales.
Client confidentiality is not a feature — it is a professional obligation. LHT DMS processes all documents locally on your machine. The web tools on this site process files entirely within your browser. No document content is transmitted to our servers at any point. The only network activity is the e-Filing portal automation, which communicates directly with the court's own servers from your computer just as you would do manually.
